The cause of death was complications. The Bradshaw Funeral Parlors, this city, was notified of his death in Baltimore and they immediately dispatched an ambulance for the body. After resting for the night at Crisfield, the body was taken to his late home at Rhodes Point, Smith's Island until the hour of the funeral. Born 77 years ago on Smith's Island, the deceased was the son of the late Dow Evans and Ellen Evans, descendants of pioneer residents of the Island. He was twice married, his first wife being the late Mrs. Georganna Evans and the wife of his second marriage was the late Mrs. Ida Tyler Evans. Mr. Evans was an esteemed member of the Island Council of the Junior Order American Mechanics and a large number of this body were present at the funeral services. Before his illness he was an honest and industrious worker and could boast of a legion of friends throughout Somerset county. He was one of the communities most upstanding, Christian gentlemen. Surviving are six children, Willie G. Evans and Charlie Evans, of Ewell, Glensom Evans and Winfred Evans of Rhodes Point; Mrs. Margaret Marshall, of Tylerton and Lehman Evans of Baltimore. Two sisters, Mrs. Janie Riggin and Mrs. Manie Riggin, and one brother, Goodsell Evans, all of this city, also survive. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the Rhodes Point Church with the Rev. W. D. Short, pastor of the church, in charge of the final rites. Rev. Short was assisted by Mr. Wilbur Marsh. The large attendance at the funeral and the many beautiful floral designs further attested to the esteem in which he was held by all who knew him.
