Description	:	George was born in Blythswood (Glasgow district) Scotland to George Macauley Sr and Agnes (Hay). He married Isabella Weir Nov 26, 1875 in Cambuslang, Lanarkshire, Scotland. In the 1881 census in Rutherglen Scotland George was age 25, a joiner, wife Isabella was 27 and son George who died the following year was age 3. In 1891, still in Rutherglen, George was 37 a joiner and wife Isabella was 37, both born Lanarkshire, he in Glasgow and she in Cambuslang. Children at that time were Agnes 11, Joseph 9, Robert 6, James 3 all born Cambuslang and Charles 1 born in Rutherglen. In the 1901 census in West Rutherglen Scotland, George was 45, a joiner and wife Isabella was 47. Children in the household were Agnes, age 22, a muslim weaver, Joseph 19, a tailor, Robert 16, apprentice joiner, James, messenger boy for a grocer, Charles 12, scholar, and George 8, scholar. George and his son Robert immigrated to Windsor VT around 1903 and later wife Isabella with five children followed in 1905 arriving in Boston. The family first settled VT with relatives who had immigrated prior and moved a short time later to Charlestown, Massachusetts. In 1908 the family moved to Sanbornton New Hampshire where George purchased a farm in the woods consisting of 75 acres on Eastman Hill, farm known as the Jacobs farm. His son Charles and wife Anna later purchased land opposite the farm and built a home there. Their son Joseph Weir Macaulay who was a tailor in Halfway Scotland had married, had children, and remained in his native country. In addition George and Isabella had lost two children in 1882, Jeanie and George, ages 4 and 6, before leaving Scotland. George died at age 78 of natural causes and chronic myocarditis in Belmont Massachusetts at the home of his son Charles Macauley on Jonathan Street. He was widowed and had come there during his last illness, prior residence being New Hampshire. Burial was in Park Cemetery on Oct 24, William J. Cox, undertaker of Belmont. His farm in Sanbornton passed to his children who conveyed their shares of the property to their sibling Charles in 1946. Macaulay Lot is in the Brown Addition and was purchased by Agnes (Macaulay) Huckins in April of 1923 at the death of her mother Isabella. Burial in the lot (left to right) were Charles (son) Isabella (mother) George (father) Agnes Huckins (daughter) and husband Alva L. Huckins. Lot opposite: James (son), James (grandson) and Charles (grandson).
