Description	:	George Richard Binau was born 22 November 1981, on a farm in Jefferson Twp., Wayne County Iowa. He was the oldest son of George Frank Binau and Ida Gazina Hulsebus. He attended Higley County School in the winter, but of course was expected to help with the farm work the rest of the year. He also graduated from Allerton Iowa High School. Read More	George Richard Binau was born 22 November 1981, on a farm in Jefferson Twp., Wayne County Iowa. He was the oldest son of George Frank Binau and Ida Gazina Hulsebus. He attended Higley County School in the winter, but of course was expected to help with the farm work the rest of the year. He also graduated from Allerton Iowa High School. At that time, graduation was from the twelfth grade. However, there was also a 13th grade, called a review grade. The thirteenth year was a chance to review all work in all the other grades. Many farm boys missed a great deal of time during the school year, because of necessary farm work. He attended and was confirmed in the German Lutheran Church in Clay Twp., located on the NE corner of Section 30-69-20 in Benton Township. George met Lenna Sarah Bibbs while attending New Zion Church which she also attended. They were married 6 February 1907. The marriage took place at the home of the bride's parents, Alice Virginia and James Clark Gibbs. At that time Alice and Jim lived on the old Hughes homestead at the junction of what is now Hwy. 40 and Hwy. 2. Forty six relatives and friends attended the wedding and a sit down dinner was served to all. Lenna invited only cousins, since her brother Roy was to be married in February and the aunts and uncles were invited to the later wedding. After the marriage George and Lenna lived for one year, one mile west of Allerton, on the old Hall place. then they purchased 80 acres across the road from the New Zion Church, and lived there several years.
