Loesch of this city, passed away Sunday morning at the Lessenger home in Mt. Pleasant. The little fellow had been seriously ill for several days with pneumonia and underwent an operation Friday evening for mastoid growth. Short funeral services were held in Mt. Pleasant today. The body will be brought to this city and services held from the Davis Funeral Home tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 in charge of Rev. Rolland Butler. Besides the sorrowing parents, he is survived by one brother. The parents have the sympathy of the community at this time, as the little son was a very bright and lovable child and made friends of all whom he met. ------------------------- The Fairfield Daily Journal Saturday Nov. 2, 1918 Pg. 3 Col. 4 LIFE OF GEORGE H. LOESCH (sic. "H" should be "R") George Richard Loesch, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Q. Loesch, was born at Stillwater, Minnesota July 25th, 1914, and died at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, October 27th, 1918, aged 4 years, 3 months and 21 days. Some three years ago the Loesch family moved to Fairfield, Iowa, where little "Soldier Dick" became a general favorite. He was taken ill while at the home of the mother's parents at Mt. Pleasant. Everything that love and medical skill could do was done, but a complication of diseases made recovery impossible. Throughout the most intense suffering little "Soldier Dick" was patient and brave, and has passed on to the better country of which he so often spoke. A private funeral service was held at the home Tuesday afternoon. Many beautiful flowers told of the loving esteem the community felt for little Dick. He has gone on to salute his superior officer, and today is safe in the arms of the one who said, "Suffer little children to come unto me and forbid them not for of such is the Kingdom of Heaven."
