Landon, well-known Crisfield resident, died at his home on Hudson street early Monday afternoon after an illness of several months. He was 48 years of age. Mr. Landon had been afflicted with a heart ailment for several months but his death came as a severe shock to his many friends in the community. He was a waterman and followed this vocation until ill health prevented, and was well and favorably known throughout the tide-water section of the Eastern Shore. He was a son of the late Thomas and Frances Virginia Landon, and a member of an old and prominent Somerset county family. He was a member of Mount Pleasant M. P. Church and took an active interest in all religious and civic affairs. He was a member of Eastern Shore Council, Jr. 0. U. A. M. Mr. Landon was a quiet, unassuming Christian gentleman. He spoke slowly, and said only good things about people, when he said anything. If he ever had a quarrel or serious misunderstanding with anyone, nobody know of it. He was essentially a family man, and loved the serenity of his home. Having been in ill health for some time, he bore his suffering with fortitude, and had accepted the fact that his death was probable, and bowing to the will of the Almighty had signified that while he wanted to stay with his wife and family as long as possible, if death came, he was prepared for it. He was a good citizen, and the fine words of praise that people gave utterance to after his death came from their hearts and were deserved. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Virginia Landon, and five children, George Landon, Jr., Linwoad Landon, Mildred Landon, John Landon and Leroy Landon. Four brothers, John, Edward Lee, Charles and Lloyd Landon, all of Crisfield, and six sisters, Mrs. Margaret Sterling, Mrs. Lydie Sterling, Mrs. Lucy Stevenson, Mrs. Ruth Purcell, of Crisfield, Miss Sallie Landon, and Mrs. Ruby Liebknect, of Baltimore, also survive. Funeral services were held from the home on Hudson street on Wednesday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. C. M. Elderdice, pastor of Mount Pleasant M. P. Church. Pall bearers were George Marshall, Percy Marshall, Sidney Landon, William Landon, Earl Ward, Lorenzo Landon. Interment was in Crisfield cemetery. The Crisfield Times, April 3, 1936 pg.5
