George Thomas was born August 8, 1892; he was baptized by the Lutheran Pastor, Rev. Becker, about one month after his birth, thus joining the Lutheran church. The late boy spent all his lifetime on the farm of his father, and formed by his obedience towards his parents and his charming, lovable disposition the special joy of his father and mother, also of his many relatives and friends. As often as there were services of the Norwegian church he attended and partook of the instruction of the catechism. It was the intention of his father to send him to the catechism instructions next winter to have him confirmed. But God has his wise design, frustrated many plans laid out for the boy's future and confirmed him above. He has preserved him unto His heavenly kingdom, 2 Tim., 7:18. George Thomas attended the public school here and was a pupil of the 7th grade. Two weeks ago he became ill; his illness was typhoid fever, which resulted into deadly effect on Sunday. The suffering boy passed away from this vale of sorrow last Monday night, at about half past two o'clock, unconsciously. He follows two children into the grave, Margueritha and Elmer. His soul has gone hence. ......... Besides the parents the following children mourn the loss of their beloved son and brother: Martin, Frank Bernhard, Louis John, Emma Olma, Emil and Alma; also his uncle and aunt, Mr. William Olson and Mrs. Olson. (poem followed) The funeral services were conducted in the Lutheran church by Rev. R. Schimmelpfennig, Ph. D. A large congregation had been assembled, bearing proof of their sympathy with the mourners. The coffin had been nicely decorated with flowers. Pallbearers were the classmates of George.
