The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton with the Rev. Rich Boyd officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery in Fairfield (sic. Baker was born June 3, 1921, north of Fairfield, the son of Frank and Offie Steele Baker. He was raised near Fairfield and attended Fairfield schools. He married Edith Bates on May 4, 1940, in Kirksville, Mo., and farmed most of his life in the Fairfield and Washington areas. He worked for Perfex in Washington for 15 years, retiring in 1985. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Japan at the end of the war. Survivors include his wife; one son, Robert of Washington; three daughters, Joyce Scheeler of Brighton, Judy Smith of Dexter, Mo., and Karen Clifton of Mechanicsville; 10 grandchildren; five great-granschildren; one sister, Eloise Stewart of Fairfield; and twin brothers, Keith Baker of Birmingham and Kenneth Baker of Fairfield.
