Adams County Free Press, July 18, 1928, page 20 George Williams, of Corning, whose passing from this life was mentioned in last week's issue of the Union Republican, died at the Greater Community Hospital in Creston, Wednesday, July 18, 1928, at 10:40 o'clock p.m. The body was brought to his home in Corning and funeral services were held at the Adams County First Baptist Church, Saturday, July 21st at 10:00 o'clock in the morning, conducted by Rev. H. K. Rogers of Mt. Etna. Interment was made in the Forest Hill Cemetery. George W. Williams was born July 2, 1851, in Plitsfield, Pike County, Illinois, and was aged 77 years and 16 days at the time he passed from this life. In 1871 he was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Flegal and to this union were born seven children. In 1886, Mr. and Mrs. Williams united with the Church of Christ, where they worshiped until Mrs. Williams was called to the home beyond, two years later. From that time until his family was grown, Mr. Williams tenderly fathered and mothered his children. Nineteen years later, Mr. Williams came to Adams County, Iowa where he was married to Mrs. Carrie E. (Bickford) Jones on April 1, 1907. Mr. and Mrs. Williams made their home in and near Mt. Etna until about two years ago when they moved to Corning. Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, four children, John T. of Tulsa Oklahoma; Mrs. Eva Dietrich of Prague Oklahoma; Arthur F. of Bakersfield California, and Mrs. Dora Carter of Hood River, Oregon. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a host of friends. He was a devoted father and husband and a fond lover of children. Two children of Mr. Williams attended the funeral, John T. Williams and his wife of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Eva Dietrich of Prague, Oklahoma. Adams County Union Republican, July 25, 1928, page 10
