The graveside service was in charge of the Manitou Lodge I. O. O. F. George Warren Straub, son of William and Mary Bond Straub was born November 2, 1878, in Muscatine county, Iowa. He departed from this life on March 4th, 1951, at the age of 72 years, 4 months and 2 days. As a small child he came with his parents to Cedar county where he grew to manhood. He was united in marriage to Myrtle Baker on January 9th, 1901. To this union were born two children. He and his wife engaged in farming until her death on March 12, 1903. He then attended the University of Iowa, but because of partial deafness was forced to make different plans, and again become a farmer. On February 10, 1914, he married Flora Carl. To this union was born one son. As a child he attended church at Lime City and at South Bethel. Later he became a member of the Evangelical and Reformed church in Tipton. He was also a member of the I. O. O. F., the Manitou Lodge No. 8, in Tipton. He is survived by his wife, Flora, two sons, Warren W. Straub of Henning, Minnesota, George Straub, of Bennett; Mrs. Myrtle Ford, daughter, of Lowden; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; also a brother T. M. Straub of Tipton, and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Rev. A. W. Straub and a sister Mrs. Elsie Shimke. Services were held Wednesday in Tipton, March 7, 1951, were in charge of the Rev. Harold Kratzat, pastor. Mrs. Jack Leverenz and Mrs. Harold Kratzat sang, with Mrs. Arnold Swan at the piano.
