The funeral services were held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Advent Christian Church conducted by the Rev. W. S. Bowden with music by Mrs. Clarence Penwell, Albert Brown, Miss Emma Strait, and J. Harold Todd, accompanied by Miss Frances Penwell. The pall bearers were Harold Peters, Clarence Penwell, William Frist, O. L. Figging, T. G. Brenton, and Albert F. Davie and burial was in the Villisca Cemetery. George Washington Lacock was born May 9, 1855 in Ripley County, Indiana and moved in his youth to Iowa where he spent the remainder of his life. He was married November 6, 1872 to Alice Amanda Victor, who with two daughters preceded him in death. Mrs. Arthur Mitchel of Villisca, their other daughter survives. He was married October 10, 1883 to Leah J. Bowers and their one son, Freddie died in 1905. Besides his daughter, and wife, Mr. Lacock, leaves two brothers, Thomas and Alva, both of Hinsdale, Montana. Mr. Lacock united with the Advent Christian Church in 1886 and when he moved to Villisca in 1905, he transferred his membership to the villisca Church. Mr. and Mrs. Lacock celebrated their fifth-fourth wedding anniversary last fall at their home here. He had been sick for several months and had failed gradually for some time. He has been a resident of Adams, Taylor, and Montgomery County. He is survived by his wife, his daughter, two brothers, four grandchildren, and many other relatives. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m at the Advent Church in Villisca and burial was in the Villisca Cemetery. Adams County Free Press, April 28, 1938 The Lacox families attended the funeral of their Uncle George Lacos who was buried Sunday afternoon in Villisca. Mr. Lacox was very aged and had lived in or near this vicinity since early pioneer days. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
