George William French was born in Wisconsin in 1862, the son of Joseph and Rachael French. At the age of 3 years he moved with his parents to Illinois, living there about ten years, when the family moved to Plainfield, Iowa, in which vicinity he resided until his death. George William French was born in Wisconsin in 1862, the son of Joseph and Rachael French. At the age of 3 years he moved with his parents to Illinois, living there about ten years, when the family moved to Plainfield, Iowa, in which vicinity he resided until his death. While still a young man he was baptized and united with the Methodist church at Plainfield, later taking his letter to Nashua while living at that place. On Nov. 24, 1882, he was united in marriage to Mahala Cooper and to this union were born six children. One daughter preceded the father in death. Besides his widow he leaves one son, Charles of Nashua, four daughters, Hazel at home; Mrs. Orin Wait, Mrs. George Beine, and Mrs. Hillis Creger, all of Plainfield. He is also survived by one brother. J. D. French, of Bellingham, Wash. Mr. French had been in failing health for over four years, due to a heart ailment, but never gave up and was engaged in helping with the evening chores when he was called home. He was a tender loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Plainfield on Monday afternoon, Dec 3, with Rev. George Muzzey officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery at Nashua.
