Description	:	Grace Edith Boomgarden was born the daughter of George William and Mahala Jennie French in Bremer County, May 25, 1890 and died at an early morning hour in the University Hospitals at Iowa City, Thursday, June 23, 1960. In January of this year, Grace contracted asian flu. This later was complicated by pneumonia, nephritis and heart trouble and edema. She was taken by ambulance June 2, 1960 to the University Hospital at Iowa City. She leaves to morn her passing, her husband. Menno (Ben) Boomgarden, to whom she was united in marriage January, 23, 1954; two children, Ronald Waite, Tama, Mrs. Helmuth Poppe (Ruthie), Nashua: six step children: Mrs. Glen Bean, Charles City, Jake Boomgarden, Nashua, Claus Boomgarden, Sacramento, Calif., Mrs. William Davis, Kanawha, Iowa, Mrs. Brysn Hotchkiss, Sacramento, Calif., Oliver Boomgarden, Waterloo: 26 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one sister. Mrs. Hillis Creger (Elna), Plainfield: nephews, nieces and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: one brother. Charles D. French: three sisters: Mrs. Reinhardt Ferch (Myrtle), Mrs. George Beine (Minnie), and Hazel Neona French, and two grandchildren, Sandra Joan Waite and Ronnie Helmuth Poppe. Burial rites were conducted Monday, June 27, by Rev. Glenn Utterback in the Little Brown Church, of which Grace has been a member for many years with internment at Greenwood. Flower ladies were Mrs. C V. Cook and Mrs Lloyd Knapp. Music was furnished by Mrs. F. L. Hanscom, organist, and Jane Hauser, soloist. Pall bearers were Jake Boomgarden, Oliver Boomgarden, Claus Boomgarden, William Davis, Bruce E. Avery, H. DeVere Creger. Grace loved to do exquisite handiwork and her home and those of many of her relatives and friends bear loving witness to her desire to enrich the lives with whom she came in contact.
