FRENCH, 54, IS CALLED BY DEATH Lifelong Resident of the Nasuha and Plainfield Communities Died Wednesday At Charles City Hospital Hazel N. French, 54, a lifelong resident of the Nashua and Plainfield communities, died Wednesday of last week at the Cedar Valley hospital in Charles City, following an extended illness. Funeral services in charge of the Chenoweth Funeral Home, were held Sunday at the Nashua Methodist church. Rev. Robert Davies of Plainfield officiated. The singers were Calvin Kelley and Marjorie Reitz, with Nora Eggleston as accompanist. Burial was made in the family lot at Oak Hill cemetery. Pallbearers were Roy Grady, Harold Briggs, Ben Kruse, John Wyatt, Arthur Miller and Howard Townsend. Flower ladies were Florence White and Lucille Briggs. The following obituary was read at the funeral: Hazel N. French was born July 4, 1892 at Plainfield, Ia., and passed away Wednesday, November 20, 1946, in the Cedar Valley hospital, Charles City, Iowa, at the age of 54 years, 4 months, 16 days. She suffered a stroke in June of this year, and entered the Cedar Valley hospital for the fifth time within six months, after a second stroke following operations for a goitre and a malignant tumor of the shoulder. She suffered a third stroke on Tuesday morning, passing away late Wednesday afternoon. She early united with the Methodist church at Nashua. Later transferring her support to the Plainfield Methodist church. Her everyday life was expressive of her faith in God, and those who knew her best are well aware of the depth and steadfastness of her purpose to serve her Master. She attended Nashua public school, later working as a typesetter in "The Post" newspaper office at Nashua. Later, she moved with her parents to the vicinity of Plainfield, where she spent the remainder of her life. She leaves to mourn her passing, her aged mother, Mrs. Mahala French; two sisters, Mrs. Orin Wait, Nashua; Mrs. Hillis Creger, Plainfield; nephews, nieces and many other relatives and friends. Her father, George W., two sisters, Mrs. R. W. Ferch (Myrtle) and Mrs. George Biene (Minnie), and brother Charles D., preceded her in death.
