(Warder) Whitmore, both born in OH. Presumably she was born in Locust Grove Township, Jefferson Co., IA, because that was her location in 1880, when she was 1. She was still living with her parents and siblings in Batavia, Locust Grove Twp, IA, when the 1900 census was taken. She was a school teacher. She married Joseph L. Ball, son of George Washington Ball and Margaret Lavinia Laughlin, on 5 Oct 1902 in Locust Grove Twp. when she was 24 years old. She lived the remainder of her life in Fairfield, Jefferson Co., IA., dying on 4 Sep 1960, two years before her husband. In the 1915 Iowa State Census, she reported she had 8 years of common school and 3 years of high school and could read and write. She was the mother of three children, Harold Warder, John Laughlin, and Josephine Whitmore, all of whom reached adulthood. She had the unhappy misfortune of losing her eldest son, Harold Warder, when he was 24 due to subacute bacterial endocarditis, with valvular heart disease contributing to his death."
