Gerald came with his parents when he was a boy to Chester, Neb., which became his home up to the time that he enlisted in the services of his country. He graduated from the Chester high school in the class of 1934. He was a member of the Chester Lodge No. 135 of Odd Fellows. His years of young manhood were spent in this community. Although he did not become a member, he attended the Christian church (sic). On February 24, 1942, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps, and was stationed at Bardsdale Field, Shreveport, La. He was united in marriage on June 20, 1942, to Mable Greynolds of Shreveport, La. He leaves to mourn him, his loving wife; his mother Ida George; four brothers, Lee George of Republic, Lloyd George of Detroit, Mich., Lyle George of McCook, Lester George of Chester; and one sister, Mildred Huckins of Chester; other relatives and a host of friends. Preceding him in death were his father John George, July 5, 1932, and a sister Minnie, June 17, 1933. Funeral services were held at the Christian church (sic) in Chester June 2, with the Rev. J.G. Olmstead and the Rev. Elmer Peterson officiating. Interment was held in the Chester cemetery (sic) and military services at the grave were in charge of the American Legion post, Hebron, Neb., and the U.S. Army Air Corps of the Bruning air base.
