Description	:	Geraldine Virginia Delanty, 97, beloved mother and matriarch of the Delanty family, passed away September 23, 2011, at her home. Geraldine was one of five children born to John and Mildred (Herrick) Ostdiek in Underwood, Iowa, on November 29, 1913. She graduated from Beebeetown High School. Geraldine worked for Mercy Hospital and then Jennie Edmundson Hospital during her many years of employment. She was a life-long member of St. Patrick's Church of Council Bluffs, where she had been a member of the quilting circle. Geraldine was one of five children born to John and Mildred (Herrick) Ostdiek in Underwood, Iowa, on November 29, 1913. She graduated from Beebeetown High School. Geraldine worked for Mercy Hospital and then Jennie Edmundson Hospital during her many years of employment. She was a life-long member of St. Patrick's Church of Council Bluffs, where she had been a member of the quilting circle. Geraldine had a passion for being outdoors and later in life enjoyed sitting in the sun watching the birds. She was the most giving of mothers and will be greatly missed. Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mildred Ostdiek; husband, George in May of 1989; daughter, Patricia in May of 1998; sister, Mary Clare; and brother, Wayne Ostdiek. She is survived by her children, Jeanette Blair, of Stanton, Iowa, Phyllis Root, of Crescent, Iowa, Donna Anderson, of Council Bluffs, Kay Brownfield and husband, Larry, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Karen Allen and husband, Frank, of Council Bluffs, Gary Delanty and wife, Gloria, of Clearwater, Fla., Connie Hook and husband, Larry, of Council Bluffs, Pam Cruz and husband, Ralph, of Lilburn, Georgia; along with 35 grandchildren, 65 great grandchildren and 44 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Kenealy, of Neola and Berniece Hammitt, of Logan; nieces and nephews. Wake Service, Tuesday, 6 p.m., followed by visitation with the Family until 8 p.m., at the Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Funeral Mass, Wednesday, 10 a.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Council Bluffs. Rev. David Fleming, pastor will be the celebrant. Interment St. Patrick's Cemetery, Neola, Iowa with a lunch following at St. Patrick's Church Hall in Neola. Memorials are suggested to Asera Care Hospice.
