He was born Oct. 24, 1912, in Underwood to John P. and Mildred Herrick Ostdiek. He previously lived in Neola. He farmed in Neola for many years. He moved to Omaha in 1975. He was born Oct. 24, 1912, in Underwood to John P. and Mildred Herrick Ostdiek. He previously lived in Neola. He farmed in Neola for many years. He moved to Omaha in 1975. He was a member of the Catholic church and an avid dancer. Mr. Ostdiek was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine, in 1968. He was also preceded by sister Mary Clare Sick. Survivors include daughters, Sharon Elliott of Council Bluffs, Janice Hansen and husband, Bill, of Omaha, Mary Jean Arsenault and husband, Ed, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Diane Albertson and husband, Louis, of Council Bluffs; sons, Jerry and wife, Cindy, of Council Bluffs, Joe and wife, Delima, of Jefferson; 23 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Kenealy of Neola, Geraldine Delanty of Crescent, Bernice Hammitt of Logan. Rosary recitation will be Sunday at 6 p.m. with visitation to follow until 8 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Open visitation will be Saturday and Sunday. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's in Neola. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Neola, with a luncheon to follow. Memorials may be offered to Alzheimer's Association.
