Van Beek Funeral services were held at the Netherlands Reformed church here at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 4, for Mrs. Albert Van Beek, 80, a resident of this vicinity for more than 40 years, who died at her home here Saturday evening. Services were conducted by the Rev. C. Hegeman and burial was made in the Sioux Center Community cemetery. Klass Van Beek, Marvin Van Beek and Ted Van Grootheest. Mrs. Van Beek was born in The Netherlands September 17, 1881, and grew to womanhood there. She was married to Albert Van Beek on September 5, 1902, and 18 years later (in 1920) moved with her family to America. Mr. Van Beek passed away December 11, 1961. Survicors include 10 children: Maas of Sioux Center, John of Rock Valley, Gerrit of Hudson, Albert of Alvord, Gertrude (Mrs. Gerrit Bleyenberg) of Sioux Center, Rena (Mrs. John Schelllng) of Sioux Center, Henrietta (Mrs. Gerrit Van Grootheest) of Doon, Albertus of Sioux Center, Peter of Ireton and Henry of Orange City. Also surviving her are two sisters and three brothers in Holland, a brother, John, at Orange City, 64 grandchildren and 62 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son and seven grandchildren. On September 5, 1961, Mr. and Mrs. Van Beek had celebrated 59 years of wedded life. Sioux Center News 1962-09-06.
