Description	:	Henry A. Van Beek, age 81, of Sioux Center, passed away Thursday, November 28. There was a memorial service on Monday, December 2, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. G.M. de Leeuw officiating. Interment was at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center. Henry A. Van Beek was bom to Albert and Gertrude (Van Beek) Van Beek on September 29, 1921 at Sioux Center, Iowa. Van Beek was bom to Albert and Gertrude (Van Beek) Van Beek on September 29, 1921 at Sioux Center, Iowa. Henry was raised on the family farm near Carmel, Iowa where he attended country-school. On June 26, 1943 he was united in marriage to Gertrude Van Voorst in Dayton, Ohio. Henry served his country as a member of the US Army. He was stationed in Germany where he participated in the European Theater during World War II. During his life, Henry farmed near Corsica, South Dakota, worked as a hired-man for Harold Vermeer and as a carpenter for De Stigter Bros. Construction. Later in life he drove bus for the Netherlands Reformed School from 1983 to 1993 and served as custodian for the Netherlands Reformed Church of Sioux Center. Henry retired in 1993 and was an avid reader. Henry was an active member, of the Netherlands Reformed Church of Sioux Center. Henry is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gertrude Van Beek of Sioux Center; seven children: Henrietta (Dennis) Egdorf of Boyden; Alvina (Don) Letcher of Ft. Collins, CO; Alvis (Marlene) Van Beek of Ireton; Helen (Arnold) DeSmit of Orange City; Roger (Rhonda) Van Beek of Westfield; David Van Beek and John (Joy) Van Beek both of Sioux City. Henry is also survived by his 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren along with his sister, Gertrude Bleyenberg of Rock Valley; sisters-in-law, Juliana Van Beek and Elizabeth Van Beek both of Sioux Center and numerous nieces and nephews. Henry was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Russell Roger Van Beek; daughter-inlaw, Sharon Van Beek; son-in-law, Denney Tiedemann; six brothers; Maas, Gerrit, Albert G., John, Albertus, Peter Van Beek and two sisters: Rena Schelling and Henrietta Van Grootheest.
