Description	:	GERTRUDE GEORGIA NELSON CLEAR LAKE - Gertrude Georgia Nelson, 86, of 421 S. Ninth St., died Tuesday (Nov. 9, 1999) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake, with the Rev. Daird Korth officiating. Burial will be at Clear Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, and continue Friday until time of service. Memorials may be directed to the Gertrude Georgia Nelson Memorial Fund. Gertrude Georgia Nelson was born July 18, 1913, in Walnut, Neb., the daughter of George and Nettie (DeVries) Buerkley. Gertrude was baptized April 8, 1914, at the United Brethren Church, Walnut, Neb., and confirmed on March 24, 1929, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Venus, Neb. She graduated from high school in Creighton, Neb., in 1931. Georgia was united in marriage to Alton Nelson on July 28, 1935, in Venus, Neb. She taught school for several years in Nebraska before moving with her husband to Clear Lake in 1952. They farmed north of town until 1964, when they sold the farm and bought Lake Park Tap and Grill in downtown Clear Lake. They sold the business and retired in 1975. Gertrude enjoyed collecting giraffes and spending time with her family and friends, whom she was always there for. She was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Ventura. Gertrude is survived by her husband, Alton, of Clear Lake; one son, Aloyce "Bud" Nelson and his wife, Juan, of Burlington; two daughters, Natalie Weber and her husband, David and Elouise Harmeyer and her husband, Lloyd, all of Clear Lake; seven grandchildren, Teresa Runia and her husband, Curt, of Maplewood, Minn., Dwight Krukow, of Clear Lake, Sheila Krukow, of Maplewood, Minn., Susan Story and her husband, Dave, of Rowlett, Texas, Ronda Fredrickson and her husband, Mark, of Tacoma, Wash., Julie Smith, of Kent, Wash. and Brett Nelson and his wife, Carin, of Burlington; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Clayton Nelson and his wife, Wanda, of South Sioux City, Neb., and several nieces and nephews. Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and one great-grandchild.
