Read More	Source: Article from The Papillion Times Newspaper, Papillion, Sarpy County, NE, USA Thursday, May 16, 1907 Death of Little Gertrude Sander Last Thursday evening at 10 o'clock occurred the death of Gertrude Pauline, the little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Sander, who was born May 27, 1906, and died May 9, 1907. She was the joy and happiness of the home. But the young sweet life was soon marked by disease, but hopes of her recovery were entertained until a week ago when pneumonia set in. All efforts to save her were made, but in vain. Although she had to suffer a great deal, her end came in peace, and she departed from her loved ones with a smile upon her suffering face, as though she saw the angels coming to meet her, and carry her away to her heavenly home. The words of consolation for this bereaved hour are found in the gospel of St. Mark, the 10th chapter, verse 14: "Suffer the little children to come unto me, forbid them not, for such is the kingdom of Heaven." Short funeral services were held at the home and at the German M. E. church, Rev. Grassmueck preaching the funeral sermon. The church was crowded with the friends of the bereaved parents and many beautiful floral offerings from sympathizing friends covered the little casket which contained the remains of their loved one and which was borne by four little girls in white who acted as pall bearers. Appropriate music was rendered by the church choir and by Misses Lillian and Ethel Empey. Interment was made in the family lot in Schaab's cemetery. The bereaved parents have the sympathy of the entire community.
