Description	:	Stratford Courier June 1, 1905 Obituary Layton Trudie Layton, only child of Mr. and Mrs. O.S. Layton, was born on a farm near Stratford, September 17, 1891. She had an attack of spinal meningitis when she was about two years old, and has never seen a well day since. The last few years of her life she has been a constant sufferer, yet she was of a cheerful, sunny disposition, with a pleasant smile for everyone. Read More	Stratford Courier June 1, 1905 Obituary Layton Trudie Layton, only child of Mr. and Mrs. O.S. Layton, was born on a farm near Stratford, September 17, 1891. She had an attack of spinal meningitis when she was about two years old, and has never seen a well day since. The last few years of her life she has been a constant sufferer, yet she was of a cheerful, sunny disposition, with a pleasant smile for everyone. She was always at her place at Sunday School whenever she was able. And to know her was to love her. Her last days were full of suffering, yet she was conscious till the last moment, and gave her parents loving messages of advice. She leaves parents, grandparents, other relatives and many friends to mourn her departure. She died at her home in Stratford on May 25, 1905 at 4 o'clock p.m., being 13 years, 8 months and 8 days old. The funeral service took place from the M.E. church Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. E.S. Benjamin. The remains were laid to rest in the Oakwood cemetery. "A precious one from us has gone, A voice we loved is still, A place is vacant in our home, Which never can be filled. God in His wisdom has recalled, The boon his love has given, And tho' the body slumbers here, The soul is safe in Heaven. Card of Thanks Mr. and Mrs. O.S. Layton desire to hereby express their sincere thanks to all who so kindly assisted them during the time of their recent bereavement, and also for the kindness of the friends who brought so many flowers to cheer Trudie while she was ill. All these things are held in grateful remembrance.
