This union was blessed with five children. Leslie was a farmer and owned and operated a semi-tractor. He was employed by Dahlsten Truck Line, Inc. for several years. He lived in Julesburg, Colorado, the Beulah community, Kansas City, Kansas, North Loop and Omaha before moving to Nelson in 1976. Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Gladys Farver. Survivors include his wife, Margaret of Nelson; one son, Leslie Reed, Jr. of Nelson; five daughters, Linda Lowery and Patricia Miller and her husband Gary, all of Holly, Colorado, Nancy Reed of Sedgwick, Kansas, Peggy Reed of Nelson, Nebraska and Joyce McDowell and her husband Ed of Salt Lake City, Utah; one brother, William Reed of the Superior Good Samaritan Center; nine grandchildren, Bryan Gilmore, Jesse Reed, Lesley Reed, John Reed, Teraesa Lowery, Robert Lowery, Chad Miller, Matthew Miller and Adam Zimmerman; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 8, 1996, at 2 p.m. from Klawitter-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Nelson, Nebraska, with Rev. Royce Buchtel officiating. Music was provided by soloist Ruth Watts singing "On Eagles Wings", "Precious Memories" and "On The Wings Of A Dove" with Carlita Price as organist and accompanist. Casketbearers were Walter Heyen, Steve Petersen, Bryan Gilmore, Curt Farver, Gary Miller and Ed McDowell. Burial with full military rites, given by Eren N. Geran American Legion Post #187 of Nelson, Nebraska, was in Nelson Cemetery. Klawitter-Price Funeral Home of Nelson, Nebraska, was in charge of the arrangements.
