Description	:	Gladys Leona Martin, daughter of Edgar B. and Margaret Joy, was born November 24, 1897, near Dorchester, Saline county, Nebraska. She departed this life September 30, 1953, at the age of 55 years, 10 months and 6 days. At the age of 13 she moved with her parents to York and two years later to Fairmont, which had been her home since. Read More	Gladys Leona Martin, daughter of Edgar B. and Margaret Joy, was born November 24, 1897, near Dorchester, Saline county, Nebraska. She departed this life September 30, 1953, at the age of 55 years, 10 months and 6 days. At the age of 13 she moved with her parents to York and two years later to Fairmont, which had been her home since. She graduated from the Fairmont high school in 1916, and taught two years in Fillmore county rural schools. She was united in marriage to Albert A. Martin September 2, 1919, at Fairmont. To this union was born one son, Harold. The deceased was a member of the Methodist church, the W.S.C.S., West Blue Aid Society, a charter member of Legion Auxiliary, and also a member of the Rebekah lodge. Besides her husband, she leaves to mourn her passing her son, Harold of York; father, E.B. Joy of Fairmont, one brother, Raymond B. Joy of Loveland, Col., one sister Mrs. Lewis Porter of Lincoln; two granddaughters; two nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, who passed away May 3, 1933. Funeral services were held Saturday, October 3, at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church in Fairmont, Rev. H. Smitheram and Rev. L.O. Seger officiating. Two songs were sung by Oliver Moul, accompanied on the organ by Mrs. A.P. Stewart. Pallbearers were Harry Perkins, Vance Farrar, Charles Tous, Robert Bruce, Ross Dorrance and Sidney Atwood Sr. Interment was in the Farimont cemetery.
