Read More	"Johnson County Courier" Sterling, Nebraska Thursday, May 15, 1958 Goldie Genevieve Francis, the daughter of Addie M. Dischnoux and Thomas J. Turner was born on Pinkney, Michigan on May 4, 1884, and passed away Saturday morning, May 10, 1958 at the Alamosa, Colorado hospital. She attained the age of 74 years and 6 days. She had been enjoying good health until the day of her death when she suffered a severe stroke and passed away within a few hours. She was baptized in the Congregational church and grew to womanhood in Sterling. She graduated from Sterling high school with the class of 1902. On Febr. 10, 1904 she was united in marriage to Ira E. Francis, who preceded her in death on June 7, 1950. Four children were born to this union, all of whom survive their mother: Harry T. Francis and Ira N. Francis of Jaroso, Colo.; Mrs. Alvin Weber of Sterling, Nebr.; and Mrs. Kenneth Clark of Eloy, Ariz.; also six grandchildren and one great grandchild. She will be missed by a host of friends who extend sympathy to the bereaved ones. Mrs. Francis was a devoted wife and mother and will be remembered for her kindness and thoughtfulness of others in the community in which she lived. She was a lover of music and flowers and spent many hours in her flower gardens until the day of her death. Funeral services in charge of the Rev. E. B. Stewart of Beaver Crossing, were held in the Zink Mortuary in Sterling, Nebr., on Thursday afternoon, May 15. The soloist was Mrs. Lloyd Wilson, who sang "In the Garden" and "Ivory Palaces." She was accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Marie Kopplin. Pallbearers were: Christy Eilers, Chalres Curtin, John Sugden, John Eppley, Herman J. Behrens and John Buss. Interment was in the Sterling cemetery. "The Sterling Sun" Feb. 12, 1902 TURNER-FRANCIS The Sterling Sun Febuary 13, 1904 A very pretty wedding occurred Wednesday evening, Feb 10, 1904 at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Turner, their daughter, Miss. Goldie Geniveve, was united in marriage to Mr. Ira Francis, Dr. DeMotte officiating. The rooms were beautifully decorated in white and carnation and the ceremony was performed under an arch and bell of flowers. During the entire ceremony a wedding march was played by Mrs. Dora Francis of Adams. The bride was attired in a beautiful white silk and carried a bunch of white carnations and the groom was attired in the conventional black. Miss Della Merrick of Adams officiated as brides maid and Mr. Roy Smith of Lincoln, as groomsman. After the ceremony, which was performed in the presence of a number of relatives and near friends all were seated to a table where a sumpuous feast was spread where all feasted and made merry. The newly weds were the recipients of a number of nice presents at the hands of friends. Hazel Alling and Meda Catchpole received and served. They will be at home in Lexington, Neb., where Mr. Francis has secured a position as pharmacist, after March 10th. These are both well known and popular young people of Sterling and the SUN joins their many friends in extending best wishes for their future happiness and prosperity.
