Reynolds Hospice Home. Mr. Hunter was born on January 20, 1924 in Stokes County to the late Manuel Lee Hunter and Bertha Tilley Hunter. Also deceased are his beloved wife of 59 years, Ollie Cain Hunter; brothers, Marvin Hunter of Miami, FL and Graham Hunter of Fayetteville; sisters, Eunice Hunter Currie of Red Springs and Bernice Hunter King of Winston-Salem. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mr. Hunter was born on January 20, 1924 in Stokes County to the late Manuel Lee Hunter and Bertha Tilley Hunter. Also deceased are his beloved wife of 59 years, Ollie Cain Hunter; brothers, Marvin Hunter of Miami, FL and Graham Hunter of Fayetteville; sisters, Eunice Hunter Currie of Red Springs and Bernice Hunter King of Winston-Salem. Mr. Hunter is survived by a son, Stephen W. Hunter of Pilot Mountain; sister, Anne Hunter Tarlton of Troy; brothers, Ray Hunter of Asheboro and Glenn Hunter of Lexington; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Hunter was a retired farmer and highly skilled automotive technician. He served in WWII with distinction and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was a devoted member of Hills Presbyterian Church where he served as elder and taught Sunday school for many years. A Memorial Service will be conducted at Hills Presbyterian Church, Pilot Mountain, NC, Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Amanda Santolla officiating. Family will greet friends briefly before and after the service. A covered dish meal will be shared in the fellowship hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hills Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 1720, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041, to Hospice of Winston-Salem, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103, or to the charity of choice. Cox-Needham Funeral Home of Pilot Mountain is respectfully serving the Hunter family.
