Obituary Grace Shelbourn Grace Shelbourn, daughter of Aaron Grooms and Martha Haley was born Sept. 18, 1891 in Sparks, Nebr. She passed away on May 1, 1982 at Surenson Convalescent Hospital, Whittier, Calif. after a number of years of bad health at the age of 91 years. Obituary Grace Shelbourn Grace Shelbourn, daughter of Aaron Grooms and Martha Haley was born Sept. 18, 1891 in Sparks, Nebr. She passed away on May 1, 1982 at Surenson Convalescent Hospital, Whittier, Calif. after a number of years of bad health at the age of 91 years. Grace spent the first 65 years of her life in Nebraska and South Dakota. She was married to John Shelbourn, Jr., August 16, 1911. To this union was born six children. She found Christ as her Savior in the Church of the Nazarene of Valentine, Nebr. and was a faithful member there. On moving to Montebello, Calif. she became a member of the Nazarene Church there until her health failed and she entered a Convalescent Hospital in 1974. She was preceded in death by her husband in March 1970, and two children, Nina and Ralph. She leaves to mourn her death two daughters and their husbands, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Maxey of Pico Rivera, Calif., and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hoffner of Hacienda Heights, Calif. Also two sons and their wives, Mr. and Mrs. Brian Shelbourn of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Shelbourn of San Antonio, Texas; two sisters Nettie Cyphers of Alameda, Calif. and Daisy Ganow of Healdsburg, Calif, three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was a loving wife and mother and a wonderful friend to all who knew her. She devoted her life to her God and others. She will be missed. She was buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Valentine, Nebr. along side her husband and other children. Funeral services were held Thursday, May 6, at the Church of the Nazarene in Valentine with Sandoz Chapel of the Pines in charge of arrangements.
