Description	:	Grover Carr, son of Benjamin F. and Alma (Hildur) Carr, was born in Dixon County NW of Wakefield on October 11, 1892. He was the youngest of his family, having two sisters, two half-sisters, and a half-brother who had died as a child in Sweden. Grover married Selma O. He was the youngest of his family, having two sisters, two half-sisters, and a half-brother who had died as a child in Sweden. Grover married Selma O. Backstrom who was born February 12, 1894, on December 29, 1915 at Salem Lutheran Church in Wakefie1d. She was the daughter of Andrew P. and Josephine (Bjork) Backstrom and the youngest of nine children. They lived with Grover's parents on the Daily farm NW of Martinsburg until the spring of 1916 when they moved to the Bloomquist farm in Logan Township NW of Wakefield. After one year they moved to the Seagren farm in Wakefield Township NE of Wakefield and farmed until 1920 when they moved into Wakefield at 511 West 2nd Street. While in Wakefield Grover clerked in a store, was a rural mail carrier, operated a meat market and later was manager of the Farmers Union Store. Following the death of Selma's brother Alfred Backstrom in 1929 they moved to the farm SE of Wakefield in Wayne County and continued the farming operation until 1932 when they moved to the Charles Mariott farm one mile NE of Wakefield. Here they farmed and took over the Charles Mariott milk route, operating the Wakefield Dairy until selling the dairy to Albert Sundell and Sons in 1942. In 1940 Grover and Selma bought a 120 acre farm in Sec. 35 of Wakefield Township, 2 1/2 miles east of Wakefield. Here they farmed until retirement in 1962. Upon retirement Grover, his son Clinton and son-in-law Kenneth Wenstrand built their home at 307 Highland in Wakefield where they lived their remaining years.
