| Description | : | Hance Lawson was a sea captain in his younger days, later a farmer and an oysterman. He served as Captain of Co. K. 1st. Md. Volunteers in the Civil War. He was a member of the Maryland Assembly, served in the Customs Service at the Crisfield Port, and was Deputy Sheriff of Somerset County for two years.
