Description	:	Funeral held for Amalia Nelson The funeral for Amalia Nelson, age 97, Stanley, formerly of Kenmare, was held Friday, June 7 at 2 p.m. in Faith Baptist Church, Kenmare, with Rev. Donald Fisher, officiating. Mrs. Nelson died on Tuesday, June 4th at a Stanley nursing home. During the services, Mrs. Pearl Nelson was organist and Bud Carlson sang. Casketbearers were Leslie Duerre, Harry Johnson, Alfred Johnson, Russel Torkelson, Levi Emmel and LeRoy Nelson. Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery with Thompson-Larson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Amalia Nordstrom was born April 7, 1888, in Hurud, Sweden, a daughter of Peter and Inga Nordstrom. She came to the United States with her brothers and sisters in 1900 and they settled in the Norma area. She married Arthur J. Nelson October 24, 1906, and they lived and farmed south of Norma, to this reunion seven children were born. They moved to Kenmare when they retired from farming. He died June 27, 1957. She moved to the Baptist Home, Kenmare, in 1968, and to the Mountrail Bethel Home, Stanley, in 1980. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Dale, Kenmare; daughters, Mrs. Elsie Harris, oak Park, Ill., Mrs. A. G. (Florence) Bjorgan, Kenmare, Mrs. Gordon (Irma) Olson and Mrs. Don (Ferol) Rairdon, both of Fremont, Calif., Mrs. Vernon (Mildred) Nelson, Marysville, Wash.; 22 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Walter, who died May 13, 1985. From The Kenmare News
