Read More	OBIT Papillion Times Thursday, Nov. 1, 1917 Hans Harmsen Dies At His Home - Hans Harmsen died suddenly at his home at 2855 Wirt St. in Omaha on the 29th of October. He had been in good health up until the time of his death. He was helping his wife with some chores when he began to feel ill and went into the house to lie down. A short time later he was found dead by one of his sons. He was born in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany to Rolf and Annie Eichner Harmsen Nov. 3, 1865. At the age of eight he came to America with his parents. The Harmsens settled on the Harmsen farm a short distance from Papillion. He married Annie Cordes at Papillion on July 28, 1888. Four children were born to this union, three sons, Theodor of Fort Dodge, Iowa; Walter and Ralph at home, and one daughter Mrs. Fred Grell of near Chalco. Mr. Harmsen gave up farming a number of years ago and moved to Minn. for a time, returning to Papillion in 1899. He engaged in business here operating Stroeh Hall and later The Sarpy House. Four years ago the family moved to Ft. Dodge, Iowa residing there until returning to Omaha a few years ago. He was presently employed by the M.E. Smith Co. He is survived by his wife and four children, two brothers Rolf of Minn. and Max of Kansas and one sister Mrs. Claus Eichner of Papillion.
