Burial is being made in the Dayton Cemetery. Chris has been one of the community's post popular residents for years, or since he moved to town from his farm south of Dayton. He was seldom, if ever seen, without that big smile for everyone, always showing the wealth of sunshine within him and always leaving a bit of that good feeling wherever he went. The shock of it is, that he was just up and around town shortly before he became ill. His entire family has acquired at least a part of his good nature and reputation of fairness in all dealings, and will carry on his wishes, but his place in this community will be hard to fill. Dayton Review October 30, 1952 OBITUARY CHRIS HANSON Hans Peter Christian Hanson, son of Carl and Anna Hanson, was born on December 28, 1885, at the family farm south of Dayton. Here he grew to manhood, reared his family, and made his home until the fall of 1947 when he and Mrs. Hanson moved to their home in Dayton. Mr. Hanson was baptized on July 17, 1886, by Dr. C. A. Hemborg and was confirmed on May 5, 1901 by Pastor J. A. Christenson. He was a lifelong member of Emanuel Lutheran Church of Dayton. On September 25, 1912, he was united in marriage with May Frances Nelson, also of Dayton. To this union were born four sons and two daughters, all but one of whom survive their father today. Mr. Hanson passed away on Monday night, October 13, at 10:20 o'clock. He had suffered a severe heart attack earlier in the day from which he failed to rally. He had enjoyed quite good health and was going about as usual on the day in which he was stricken. He would have been 67 years old had he lived until December 28. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. May Hanson, four sons: Russell, Melvin, Paul and Emory, and one daughter, Loretta, (Mrs. Donald Hansen); ten grandchildren; two sisters: Mrs. J. A. Danielson (Johanna) and Mrs. Constansia Olson, of Dayton; and two brothers, Anker Hanson, of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Charlie Hanson of Dayton, many nephews and nieces and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Viola May, who passed away on October 13, 1934, just 18 years to the day before her father's passing. Besides his work and his family, Mr. Hanson's chief interest was his church. He was constantly faithful in attendance at its services and organization meetings, and served long and faithfully as a board member. At the time of his passing he was a member of the Board of Deacons, where his quiet presence and council were deeply appreciated. His loss will be deeply felt in the councils of the church where he served so long and faithfully. This is especially true of those men who served with him in these positions of responsibility and trust. God in his wisdom has seen fit to call our friend to Himself. We bow in humble gratitude, remembering the words of our Savior, "Father, I desire that they also whom thous hast given me be with me where I am, that they may behold my glory; which thou hast given me; for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world." John 17:24. Funeral services were held at the family home, 1:30 p.m. and at the Emanuel Lutheran Church at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 16, 1952, and was conducted by Pastor R. E. Carlson. Special music was a vocal duet by Pastor and Mrs. R. E. Carlson who sang "O Safe To The Rock" and a mixed quartet composed of Mrs. Everett Swanson, Richard Will, and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Berglund who sang "Fade Fade Each Earthly Joy." Caring for the flowers were Mrs. A. L. Holmstrom and Mrs. Robert Carlson. Honorary pallbearers were Arvid Anderson, Edwin Anderson, Joe Youngstrom, Luther Urelius, Elmer Skoglund, and Arthur Youngdale. Active pallbearers were Gust Ecklund, Obed Burkgren, Bill Larson, Frank Peterson, Erick Plahn, and Hubert Will. Interment was made in the Dayton Cemetery.
