Frank Jacobs, pastor of the Methodist Church, conducting the service. Several organ selections were played by Miss Alice Underwood. Mr. Ferneau was laid to rest in the Masonic IOOF Cemetery with C.R. Ayres, Ralph Wentzel, Harold Lefgreen, Ed Fisher, Harry Healy and Harold Swanson serving as pallbearers. Ayres, Ralph Wentzel, Harold Lefgreen, Ed Fisher, Harry Healy and Harold Swanson serving as pallbearers. Harlan was the son of Charles and Nellie Ferneau and was born on a farm west of Montezuma, March 8, 1903. He died at the Community Hospital, Grinnell, Thursday, Oct. 8, as the result of injuried suffered in an automobile accident near Tama early Thursday morning. He was 61 years of age. On Oct. 25, 1923, he married Tassie Johnston and they had two sons. Since the death of Mrs. Ferneau in 1962 he has maintained his home in Montezuma. Harlan's entire life has been spent in or near Montezuma and for the past 38 years he has been a star route carrier for the U.S. Post Office Department. Survivors inclue his two sons, Marvin and Melvin of Montezuma, six grandsons, four brothers, Robert, Levi, Cliff and Herman, all of Oskaloosa and one sister Delia Beck of Knoxville.
