Mr. Folkers was sick a period of ten days. During the last hours of illness a weakness of the heart developed, and it shared in producing death. The deceased was a man of integrity and honor. He was a good financial manager, and succeeded in accumulating a fine property. He was greatly respected by his neighbors; for he was truthful, peaceable, law abiding and kind. The funeral services will be conducted at the German Lutheran church of which the deceased was a member, tomorrow, at noon, by Rev. C. Mardorf. Mr. Folkers was born at Heffel [note: should be Hesel], Province Hanover, Germany, March 5, 1841. At the age of 25 he came to America and settled in Wayne township in this county, where he engaged in farming. On the 17th day of September, 1869, he was married to Miss Mary Tobiason who survives her husband. They were the parents of six children, who are Mrs. Herman Rickels, Mrs. John Stutt, Jr., and Messrs Henry, Tobias, John and Herman Folkers. There are two surviving brothers, one of them, a resident of Germany, and the other, John, an inmate of the late home of the deceased.
