Is Dead He Was Taken Ill Two Weeks Ago With Bad Cold; other Complications Were The Cause Of His passing Away Yesterday, At The Hospital Jones county people will be surprised to learn of the death of John Folkers at the McDonald hospital yesterday morning at 1 o'clock. He had been suffering with influenza and was taken to the hospital two weeks ago for treatment. The attending physician also suspected Mr. Folkers was suffering with appendicitis and an operation was performed upon him Monday morning, January 18. It was found that conditions were such that little hope could be offered to his family for ultimate recovery. His death followed yesterday morning. Mr. Folkers was a native of Wayne township. He was born in that township August 26, 1879. His parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Harm Folkers. He grew to young manhood in Wayne and attended the rural school of this district. He was married February 12, 1904 to Rena M. Schoon. Resided in Wayne Following their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Folkers went to housekeeping on a large farm in Wayne township. They were highly successful in conducting the farm and Mr. Folkers was regarded as one of the energetic and progressive farmers of Wayne township. There were three children born to Mr. and Mrs. Folkers, one of whom, Evelena, died in May, 1922. The surviving children are Edward, and Mrs. Carl Dirks, both of whom live in the vicinity of Langworthy. The baptism of the subject of this sketch occurred when he was a small child and later Mr. Folkers was confirmed in the church during the time of the late Rev. G. Mardorf was pastor of Zion Lutheran church in Wayne. Mr. Folkers was a regular attendant at the religious services of the Wayne church and supported its activities. Brothers and Sister In addition to his wife and two children, Mr. Folkers is survived by three brothers and a sister. They are: Henry and Herman, farmers living in Wayne township, and Tobias, residing in Monticello. He also has a sister, Mrs. John Stutt, who is a resident of Edinburg, Texas. Mr. and Mrs. Tobias Folkers are at present visiting Mrs. Stutt in Texas. Mr. Folkers is also survived by three grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Folkers will be held at Zion Lutheran church in Wayne township on Friday, January 22. The services will be in charge of his pastor, Rev. John Willms. At the time of going to press we do not know the hour of the funeral. Interment will be made at the cemetery adjoining Zion's church.
