Description	:	UNION - Harold Edward Mayo Sr., 74, of 1928 Whitmire Highway died Dec. 19, 1998, in Mary Black Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. A native of Union, he was son of the late Ernest and Myrtle Webb Mayo. He was a member of Mon-Aetna Baptist Church, the Thomas Alexander Sunday School Class, the ADY of Mon-Aetna Baptist Church and was also a member of American Legion Post No. 22. Read More	UNION - Harold Edward Mayo Sr., 74, of 1928 Whitmire Highway died Dec. 19, 1998, in Mary Black Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. A native of Union, he was son of the late Ernest and Myrtle Webb Mayo. He was a member of Mon-Aetna Baptist Church, the Thomas Alexander Sunday School Class, the ADY of Mon-Aetna Baptist Church and was also a member of American Legion Post No. 22. He was a graduate of Union High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was retired from Torrington Company, Tyger River Plant. He was a retired bailiff for the Union County Court. Survivors include his wife, Clorice Henderson Mayo; two daughters, Marlene Sanders of Union and Lisa Leigh of Greensboro, N.C.; a son, Harold Edward "Eddie" Mayo Jr. of Union; two sisters, Muriel Wade and Honey Harris of Union; and six grandchildren. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Mon-Aetna Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Benny Greene and Dale Lynch and Dr. Joe Bridges. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. The body will remain at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight. The family is at the home. Memorials may be made to Mon-Aetna Baptist Church Building Fund, 1431 Lockhart Highway, Union, 29379.
