He passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2000, at Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior, Nebraska, at the age of 84 years and 4 months. He graduated from Nelson High School in 1934. He passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2000, at Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior, Nebraska, at the age of 84 years and 4 months. He graduated from Nelson High School in 1934. On September 4, 1938, Harold was united in marriage to Lois Clabaugh in Papillion, Nebraska. This union was blessed with one son, Harold Lee. Harold was a farmer and rural mail carrier. On April 22, 1995, his wife, Lois, died. On June 4, 1997, he married Crystal (Caldwell) Van Auken in Mankato, Kansas. He was a former member of the Christian Church in Angus and at the time of his death was attending the Nelson Community United Church of Christ. Harold was a member of Nelson Masonic Lodge/Scottish Rite and Tehama Shrine Temple of Hastings, Nebraska. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Hugh Ruttman, and one sister, Helen Bointon. Survivors include his wife, Crystal, and one son, Harold Lee Ruttman and his wife Patty, all of Nelson, Nebraska; one stepson, Dean Van Auken and his wife Betty of Indianola, Iowa; one stepdaughter, Carol Nelson and her husband Bill of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and two grandchildren, Brent Ruttman of Columbus, Nebraska, and Stacy Bauer and her husband James of Omaha, Nebraska. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 16, 2000, at 11 a.m., at the Nelson Community United Church of Christ in Nelson, Nebraska, with the Rev. Dr. Ralph Sturdy and the Rev. John Green officiating. Music was "How Great Thou Art" and "In the Garden" with John Green as soloist and Cheryl Green as pianist. Urn bearers were his grandchildren, Brent and Stacy. Honorary pallbearers were Steve Clabaugh, Richard Alexander, Dave Clabaugh, R.L. Culbertson, Darwin Sterkel, Jim Harris and Dave Bondegard. Masonic Rites were given by the Nelson Masonic Lodge. Interment was in the Nelson Cemetery. Klawitter-Price Funeral Home of Nelson, Nebraska, was in charge of the arrangements. The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, December 21, 2000; pg. 14
