Information provided by member Sherree #47632171 Harold Floyd Wilson, son of Elmer E. and Daisy Belden Wilson was born in Cloud County. KS on December 12, 1922. He grew to manhood near the place of his birth, graduating from elementary school in Glasco, KS. The latter years of his life were spent in the service of our country. He first enlisted at Fort Leavenworth, KS. During World War II, he spent 14 months overseas earning two battle stars while serving with the 20th Armored Division in Europe. At the time of his discharge he chose to remain in the reserves, spending one year in active duty as an escort for World War II dead. In June 1949, he again went into the regular army, training at Fort Hood, TX. In early August 1950, he was sent overseas again, spending a few weeks in Japan, he was then sent to Korea, landing at Inchon on September 15th. He was serving with an Armored Field Artillery unit when he was seriously wounded in action on September 28, 1950, and died before reaching a hospital. On April 5, 1944, he was married to Ruby Marie Church. To this union, two children were born. Terry Lee, age 4; and Lana Jean, age 3. During the ministry of Brother John Alley, Harold obeyed the gospel and was baptized into Christ in September 1948. He was a humble servant and willing to take an active part in the work of the church when called upon. Hs membership remained at the Oak Grove, Missouri Church of Christ until his death. He was loved and respected by the church and all that knew him. He leaves to mourn his untimely death his wife, Ruby and children of Oak Grove, MO; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wilson of Glasco, KS; two sisters, Mrs. Harold Dyson of Higginsville, MO; and Miss Nina Wilson of Los Angeles, CA; two brothers, Frank Wilson of Concordia, KS, and Davy Ra Wilson of Glasco, KS. Another brother, Don Wilson gave his life while serving our country in World War II. Many other relatives and friends also mourn with the family the loss of their loved one. May his life on this earth have been such that on the resurrection day he may hear said “Well done, thou good and faithful servant, enter into the joys of Thy Lord.” The funeral service was held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 at the McDonald Funeral Home, conducted by the Reverend Davidson of Kansas City, assisted by the Reverend Hjalmar Larson of the Methodist Church of Glasco. A quartet from the Church of Christ at Oak Grove, MO, furnished music. Pallbearers were Myron and Bayard Garrison, Loren Gates, Melvin Pracht, Max Wheeler, and Wayne Wampler. Interment was in Glasco cemetery with military honors.
