Description	:	Son of Dick and Margaretha Albrecht Engelbart. He was baptized July 11, 1920 and confirmed April 14, 1935 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church at Pender. He attended School District #37 east of Pender. On November 9, 1941, he married Alverna Jahnke at Zion Lutheran Church rural Bancroft. Harold enlisted in the US Army on December 1, 1941, serving tours in Italy and northern Africa and was discharged in November of 1945. Harold enlisted in the US Army on December 1, 1941, serving tours in Italy and northern Africa and was discharged in November of 1945. He returned to north east Nebraska where the couple engaged in farming and dairy farming. Harold was active in soil Conservation and was always a good steward of the land. In 1963, they moved their family into West Point where Harold worked for McCurdy Seed Company of Fremont, Iowa, retiring as District Sales Manager in 1987. He was very proud of his work and received many accolades and awards, including several trips which he and Alverna enjoyed. Harold was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he served as Elder and with the Lutheran Layman's League. He was also a member of the American Legion and VIP (visually impaired persons). Harold enjoyed playing all sorts of card games, throwing horse shoes, listening to Lawrence Welk and gardening. He was a strong competitor in hand corn husking contests. Survivors include his wife, Alverna, of West Point, daughters Jean Bowman of Omaha and Jody (Mike) Lindberg of Lincoln, sons John (Jean) of West Point, Joel (Connie) of Elkhorn, and Jim of Colton, California, sister Elaine Ross of Fremont, brothers Elmer of Bancroft, Lee (Wanda) of Denver, Colorado and Gary (Janice) of Missouri Valley, Iowa, grandchildren Jon (Libby) Engelbart, Mark (Michelle) Engelbart, Ryan Bowman, Aaron Engelbart and Leah Engelbart, great grandchildren Jonathan and Nolan Engelbart and Jake Engelbart. He is preceded in death by a grandson Brent Bowman, sisters Alice Schoch, Evelyn Witt, and Irene Dahl, and brothers Melvin and Dale.
