Reimer, 87 years of age of Beatrice, NE. passed away at his home Tuesday morning, January 28, 2003. He was born on April 23, 1915 in Gage County, Nebraska, son of Herman and Justina (Penner) Reimer. Harold W. Reimer, 87 years of age of Beatrice, NE. passed away at his home Tuesday morning, January 28, 2003. He was born on April 23, 1915 in Gage County, Nebraska, son of Herman and Justina (Penner) Reimer. He attended Freeman Grade School, the Mennonite Bible Academy and graduated from Beatrice High School in 1933. On April 26, 1942 he and Lillie Ruhl were married in Plymouth, NE. He had a dairy and farmed west of Beatrice, NE. for many years, retiring from the dairy in 1972. He continued to farm until 1990 and recently moved into Beatrice, NE. He was a life-long member of the First Mennonite Church, R. Beatrice and had served in numerous capacities throughout the years. He was a charter member of the Bits & Buggies Driving Club in Beatrice. He stayed active providing antique carriage rides for many people and working with his team of horses. He thoroughly enjoyed participating in parades, weddings, State Fair competitions and other driving events. He and his wife wintered in Texas for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and always took time for his grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing cards and socializing with his friends. Survivors include his wife Lillie; 2 sons, G. Ross Reimer and Gordon Reimer and his wife Ginny, all of Beatrice, NE.; daughter June Christy and her husband Richard of Lincoln, NE.; grandchildren Jodi Probst and husband Scott of Singapore, Shari Reimer of Houston, TX., Casey Reimer and his wife Erin of Beatrice, NE., Jeff Christy, Jill Christy, Phil Christy, Alison Christy and Rachel Christy, all of Lincoln, NE.; sister in law Elizabeth Reimer of Beatrice, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents Herman and Justina (Penner) Reimer; brother Alvin Reimer; and a niece Jane Reimer. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 31, 2003 at the First Mennonite Church, R. Beatrice, NE. with Reverends Florence and Weldon Schloneger officiating. Interment will be in the Mennonite Cemetery, R. Beatrice, NE. The body will lie in state Wednesday from 5-9:00, Thursday 9-9:00, and until noon Friday at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice NE. and at the church one hour preceding the service. A family prayer service will be held at 1:45 P.M. Friday in the basement at the church. A memorial has been established to the Beatrice Community Hospital Hospice and the Mennonite Disaster Services with Louis Esau Jr. and William Goossen in charge. Messages of condolence may be sent to [email protected] They will be forwarded to the family. The Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice, NE. is in charge of the services.
