Fordice. per cemetery notes. Update: parent relationship links entered March 2, 2017 per edit request, but with some caution. While the memorial for the father, John Fordice, is in the Berry cemetery per Jefferson county burial listings (his is an unmarked grave, however), the memorial entered for the mother, Mary Catherine Deen Fordice should not have been entered in the Berry cemetery listing as she is believed to have been buried in McLean county, Illinois, instead. Unfortunately her name and information were listed in the IaGenWeb Jefferson county burial listings for Berry cemetery as a reference point, but with the note that she was buried in McLean county, Illinois. The contributor who entered her memorial on January 23, 2013, evidently did not notice that distinction. These parent relationship links are being accepted, but with that caution that the burial location of the mother is not correct. Perhaps it will be corrected at some point. Also, the memorial for the mother lists the maiden name as "Deen", while the IaGenWeb Jefferson county burial listings for Berry cemetery list her maiden name as "Dean". Not sure which phonetic spelling is correct. ------------------ The DOB/DOD locations for Harriet are updated on March 2, 2017 per edit request. The DOD location was requested to be Fairfield, Jefferson county, Iowa per that edit request. However, upon inspection of the Jefferson county death record transcription for Harriet (which listed her age at death as being "about 75 years), the actual death location was listed as being at the Jefferson County Home, which was then located a few miles south of the city of Fairfield, so the DOD location is being entered only as far as Jefferson county, Iowa. ------------------- Obituary transcription entered March 6, 2017: The Fairfield Daily Journal Wednesday June 13, 1917 HARRIET FORDICE DIED AT COUNTY HOME LAST NIGHT Harriet Fordice, an inmate of the Jefferson County Home, was found dead in her chair last evening at 5:30 o'clock. She had apparently just passed away before her lifeless body was found. She has been at the County Home since July 15th, 1884, and for the past three years has been an invalid, being a great sufferer from cancer. She was about 75 years of age. She has a brother, George W. Fordice, living at Albia. The remains will be interred in Evergreen cemetery tomorrow morning.
