Funeral services were December 8, 1999 at Mansfield-Hertz Funeral Home with burial in the Malvern Cemetery. Pastor Melvin Smith officiated the services. Mr. Hoover was the son of Harry Allen, Sr. and Daisy Blackburn Hoover born October 28, 1909 in Malvern. He was born near Malvern and attended school in Malvern before the family moved to Wyoming to operate a turkey ranch. He returned to Mills County to farm. Mr. Hoover was the son of Harry Allen, Sr. and Daisy Blackburn Hoover born October 28, 1909 in Malvern. He was born near Malvern and attended school in Malvern before the family moved to Wyoming to operate a turkey ranch. He returned to Mills County to farm. He was married to Miriam Othella Shook August 2, 1930 in Hamburg. During WWII he worked at the Martin Bomber Plant in Bellevue, Neb. and in 1949 he began a 25-year career as a machine operator for the Union Carbide-Eveready Battery Plant in Red Oak. In 1952 the family moved to Emerson and joined the Emerson Baptist Church and were very active in the community. He was also an avid supporter of the National Rifle Assoc. earning awards for recruitment. He was prededed in death by his wife in 1984; his parents; two gradndaughters; one-great-granddaughter; sister Mildred Barrett; brothers, Cecil Hoover and Vaughn Hoover. Survivors include sons, Harry Lynn Hoover and wife Betty of Burden, Kan., Herbert C. Hoover and wife Claudia of Emerson, Samuel L. Hoover and wife Jacqueline of Castle Rock Colo., and Joel A. Hoover and wife Sharon of Hancock; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; brother, Gene Hoover of Melbourne, Fla.; sister-inlaw Elva Hoover of Malvern; and nieces and nephews.
