Gordon McMillan brought words of comfort to the family. Interment was made in the Malvern Cemetery. Casket bearers were Carl Benedict, Gary Blackburn, Clarence Christie, Ellis Graves, Frank Hummel, and Richard Kerns. Mrs. Russell Benedict and Mrs. Raymond White cared for the flowers. Mrs. C. O. Martin was soloist accompanied on the organ by Mrs. John Topham. Daisy Laura Blackburn was born in Decatur County, Iowa, March 7, 1875. She passed away on February 11, 1960, at the Hand Hospital in Shenandoah. She was one of six children born to John and Saloma Jones Blackburn. All of these have preceded her in death with the exception of one sister, Mrs. Lee Nofstger, of Malvern and H. E. Blackburn of Osceola. The children were orphaned at an early age and she was brought up by an aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Joel (Letta Jones, her mother's sister) Lucas. She was united in marriage on August 5, 1901 in Glenwood, Iowa to Harry Arthur Hoover, Sr., who passed away June 27, 1957. The lived most of their married life in Malvern. To this union was born five children, Vaughn and Cecil of Malvern, Mildred, Mrs. Alva Barrett of Shenandoah, Harry Hoover of Emerson, and Gene B. Hoover of Sioux City. All are living. She was a very devoted mother and a good kind hearted woman. She loved to work out of doors, gardening and setting out trees. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, four daughters-in-law, 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one son-in-law, her brother and sister, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
