Description	:	OBIT: Harry Anson Chapin was born Oct. 25, 1880 in Ness County, Kans., to Beecher and Hannah Chapin, and died Aug. 13, 1864, at the Sandhills General hospital in Valentine at the age of 83 years, nine months and 19 days. As a small child he moved with his parents to Iowa from Kansas. At the age of four years they moved to Keya Paha County, where he grew to manhood. They moved from Mills in 1909, and homesteaded in Tripp county near Wewela, S. D: In 1942 they Moved to a farm northwest of Clearfield, S. D. Due to ill health, he retired in 1948. After retirement they lived at Gregory, S. D. A year later they returned to the Clearfield community. In 1951 they moved to Springview where they resided until the time of his death. Survivors are his Wife, Huldah daughter, Fern Noelle of Millboro, S. D.; son, William of Commerce City, Colo.; sister, Mrs. Laura Ritterbush of Valentine three grandchildren, Mrs. Alva (Gloria) Wiley of Millboro, S. D., 'William D: Chapin and Mrs. LeRoy (Eloise) Kaiser, Commerce City, Colo.; five great grandchildren, Vern Rix, Susan and Alva Lee Wiley, Marty and Ricky Chapin, a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives. Preceding him in death were three brothers and one sister. Funeral services were held at the Springview auditorium Aug. 17, with the Reverends Curtis Gatson and Lenore Ball officiating Burial was in the Olive Branch cemetery at Mills. Music was furnished by a male quartet of Leonard, and Howard McCormick, Ceile Ripley, and David Van Metre. Mrs. T. G. Weddel was pianist. Honorary pallbearers were Harry Billings, Lawrence Williams, Lee Williams, Scott Kirk, Milo Goslin, Lee Wicker, Roy Painter, and Jesse Carr. Pallbearers were Jack Billings, Dale Shepperd, Richard Pilkington, Erven Lewis, Clarence Gibson, and Harry Titus. Information is from Michael Burley
