"The Chico Ambulance Service rushed Mr. Caswell to Enloe Hospital, but he was reported dead on arrival. "Mr. Caswell was born in McCool Junction, Neb., on July 10, 1907, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Caswell. The family moved to the San Joaquin Valley when he was nine years old. When he was 18 he moved to Biggs and later to Durham. "Mr. Caswell and Constance Locey were married in Suisun City in November, 1931, and returned to his Durham ranch. He worked for a while for various oil companies and spent 2-1/2 years in Wyoming in this work. He returned to Durham to work for E.L. Adams. He was a member of the Durham Grange. "Mr. Caswell is survived by his wife and two sons, Tom Caswell, of Durham, and Bob Caswell, of Chico; a brother, Sidney Caswell, of Durham; a sister, Mrs. Clara Isham, of Chico, and four grandchildren. "Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the Case Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Richard Barram, pastor of the Grace Baptist Church, officiating. Caswell was interred, per the Chico Cemetery Association Records, in the plot noted, on January 18, 1960. ~~~~ Per email received May 21, 2017: "Before she married Leonard Caswell, Clara Keller married John Shelton Jones on June 26, 1900 in York, York County, Nebraska. Son Harry Franklin Caswell, who took his step-father's name, was born in 1901. Per the 1910 census, it shows that Clara and Leonard had been married 4 years, and Harry Franklin Jones Caswell was 8 years old. John Shelton Jones was last living in Council Bluffs, Iowa in 1925. No divorce record was found. It's possible he might have deserted Clara and Harry." dek
