A U.S. Army Veteran serving in the 29th Infantry Division. He participated in the invasion on Omaha Beach in Normandy France, June 6, 1944, D-Day. Harry was retired from the Lancaster Water Department after forty years of service. He was a member of Emanual Lutheran Church and the American Legion. Harry is survived by his wife of 70 years, Kathleen (Mack) Reed; daughters, Lora L. Starner, Connie Reed (Larry) Cayton, Debora (Lloyd) Thrapp; and son, Harry L. (Kim) Reed II all of Lancaster; grandchildren, Mark (Margaret) Hughes, Candace (Michael) Policaro, Natalie (Tony) Sharp, Heather (Thomas) Hollett and Melissa Reed; great-grandchildren,, Cullen Hughessm Alicia, Anthony and Giovannia Policaro, Alec, Addison and Ava Sharp and Carson Hollett; sister, Mary Jane Bougher of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Sylvester (Jack) and Narold Reed; granddaughter, Kathy Dee Hughes. Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:30 A.M. Thursday March 22, 2012 at the Emanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Radditz officiating. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be on Wednesday March 21 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the SHERIDAN FUNERAL HOME and one hour prior to service at church.
