DEATH SUMMONS A WELL KNOWN AKRON MAN LAST FRIDAY Harry Lias is Victim of Sudden Heart Attack Last Rites Held Sunday Harry Lias, a resident of western Plymouth county for nearly sixty years, succumbed to a sudden heart attack last Friday morning, May 11, 1934, at the home of his nephew and niece, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Lias, south of town. He was at work in the yard when stricken and passed away immediately. He had not previously been ill and his sudden taking away came as a severe blow to relatives, who have the sympathy of the community in their bereavement. Mr. Lias was. born on a farm near Adaville, Plymouth county, Iowa, on the 31st day of August, 1875, and attained the age of 58 years, 8 months and 11 days. His parents, Mr. and Mr. Thos. Lias, were early day residents of this vicinity. He spent his boyhood on. a farm near Adaville and later moved with his parents to a farm south of Akron, where he grew to manhood. In 1901 he was united in marriage with Esther Leone Tucker. They farmed in this vicinity for several years before moving to Woonsocket, S. D., where they spent five years. In the spring of 1912 they moved to Kilbourn, Wis., where he engaged in farming. After the death of his wife there, Mr. Lias and family came back to Akron and he spent his remaining years here. He leaves to mourn his departure, one daughter, Mrs. Albert Lingle, of Richland, S. D., and four sons, Hiram and Wayne, of Westfield, la., and Vernon and Melvin, of Richland, S.D., also two brothers, Will, of Winette, Mont., and George, of Akron. Besides his wife, his parents, two sisters and two brothers have preceded him in death. He was a member of the masonic fraternity and until the past few years was a regular attendant at its meetings. He was an upright and industrious citizen, a kind husband and father, a good neighbor and friend, and will be sincerely missed by all who knew him. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon from the home of his son, Vernon Lias, in Richland, at 2 o'clock, and in the Akron M. E. church at 2:30 o'clock by Rev. J. F. Moore, the pastor. Members of Freedom lodge, A. F. & A. M., attended the services in a body and also had charge of the Masonic burial service at Riverside cemetery.
