OBITUARY: Harvey Jensen, age 85, of the Stratford Care and Rehab Center in Stratford and formerly of Nature Toad in Boone, died at the Center on June 9, 2008. He was a resident of the Center since 2006. Funeral services will be Friday, June 13, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Boone with Rev. Andrea Kraushaar officiating. ... Burial will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery. Harvey was born on December 12, 1922 in Nevada, Iowa the son of Harvey & Elva (Stratton) Jensen. He graduated from Shipley High School in Shipley, Iowa, in 1940. On May 23, 1945, Harvey married Louise Engstrom in Boone. Louise died in February of 1982. Harvey married JoAnn Klein Stowell on July 9, 1983, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. In earlier years, Harvey worked at the John Deere, Quinn Machinery, and was a specialist for Engstrom Coal Company. From 1962 to 1985, Harvey was employed at Ames laboratory at Iowa State University and worked as a senior technician. He retired in 1985. Harvey was a member of the First United Methodaist Church, the Masons Mt. Olive Lodge #79 A.F. & A.M., Order of the Eastern Star, Za-Ga-Zig Shriners, and the Boone Lions Club. In earlier years, he served as Des Moines Yownship Clerk. Harvey enjoy calling and instructing square dancing, cooking shili, gardening, traveling and wintering in Mesz, Arixona, and his dogs and cats. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters, Eva Baldus, Iva Lou Kerr, and Evelyn Wirth. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn of 1220 Aldrich Avenue in Boone; a son Jim "Rick" Jensen and wife, Donna of Des Moines; a daughter, Ranea Buscg and husband, Chris of Amsterdam, New York; a step-son, Scott Stowell and wife, Jenny of Boone; a stepdaughter, Debbie Haub and husband, John of Osceola; five grandchildren; Frank Jensen of Phoenix, Arizona, Clara Jensen of Des Moines, Jeremy Kenarangi of San Francisco, California, Adam Kenarangi of Des Moines and Shawna Kenarangi of Amsterdam, New York' four step grandchildren; Mike (Brandy) Case Haub of Des Moines, Danny (Bobbi) Haub of Adel, Brian Stowell of Boone, and Jessica Stowell of Ankeny; five step great granchildren; Brittney, Michael and jenna McAfee, Jack Case Haub and Benjamin Case haub; and one great-great step grandson Migel Palacios. Frienda may call at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall on Thursday from 1:00 until 8:00 p.m. where a Masonic service conducted by Mt. Olive Lodge #79 will be at 7:00 p.m. The family will be present to receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Visitation continues Friday at the Church from 9:00 a.m. until service time.
