Gabrielson, aged 26 years, 10 months and 4 days. The death is a peculiarly sad one. Born in this town April 8, 1859, She had ever since made this her home. In perfect health and happy as was usual with her the Sunday previous to her death it was a most sudden and sad blow to her friends to hear of her death the following Friday. Some said she was even more than usually happy, and well she might be, as if she had known that her well earned reward was near at hand. Truly "the king of shadows, leaves a shining work." She had fairly entered a career of usefulness that had much promise. An active Sunday school and public school teacher for many years (and being engaged in both at the time of her death) she had gained that competency which can only be gained by years of persistent, earnest, toil. Her motto was to excel in all she attempted. In preparing herself for the profession of a teacher, she left nothing undone; but with a peculiar adaption of heart and mind entered her work to succeed. She was also an earnest temperance worker. To her this work had a special charm, without any of that fanaticism or supercilious Can't that is so often seen, but with earnest humility and untiring zeal. She entered this field, to her one of thoughts and principle, ever ready to do better for the right, for the simple reason that it was right. In her death ends a noble life. Pure, spotless, chaste, constant, cultured, modest. She lived such a life, only to be of use to others and to her Heavenly Father. None can understand why such a life should go out so soon, but it is the work of Him who doeth all things well, and we must rest content. "Questioning none, but trusting The Hand that guideth aright Will lead us by ways that we know not Through darkness into the light." The funeral services were performed from the M. E. church on Tuesday by Rev. N. Eagle assisted by Rev. F. E. Drake, preaching from Zech. 14-7. The attendance was larger than at any other funeral for many years; people having to go away for want of room in the church. The pallbearers were Hattie's six brothers, Axel, Charles, Frank, George, Edward and Victor. There are left to mourn her, her parents, six brothers and one sister, besides a host of dear friends.
