Both provide that she was born in "Evansburg", in Coshocton county, Ohio. That town or township is not available in the drop-down list of towns/cities for that county in the F/A/G database. That is why this memorial only goes as far as "Coshocton county" for her birth location. Update: the following clarification was received via SAC on January 14, 2014: "Evansburg, Ohio is now known as Orange, in Coshocton County. A post office was established there on 27-Feb-1850 under name Evansburgh, name changed to Evansburg 15-mar-1892, discontinued on 31-Jul-1907 (services transferred to Isleta, Coshocton, Ohio)." --------- Obituary transcribed verbatim by Richard K Thompson on April 18, 2011. DANA DEAD; RITES TOMORROW Passed Away Last Night as 7:30 Oclock After An Illness of Three Years Mrs. George L. DANA, died at her home, 201 East Grimes street, last night at 7:30 oclock after an illness of three years resulting from an attack of typhoid fever from which she never fully recovered. For seven months she had been a helpless invalid. Funeral services will be held at the home tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 oclock, conducted by Rev. Harvey E. Butler. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery. Mrs. DANA was Miss Hattie E. WOLF before her marriage, being the daughter of Phillp and Caroline (POWELL-SPAULDING) WOLF. She was born in Evansburgh, Ohio, November 14, 1848. Her father and mother had lost their companions and had married again and Hattie was the first born of three girls by the later marriage. These, with the children by their former marriages made a family of twelve children. All these, with the exception of two half-brothers and a sister, preceeded her in death, the sister being Mrs. Henrietta CROSWELL of Hastings, Nebr. She had seven half brothers in the Civil War, four of whom did not return. Her parents died only a day apart of typhoid fever when she was six years old. She was taken into the family of her uncle, John SHIRK, with whom she lived until her marriage, May 11, 1873, to Mr. DANA in Bureau county, Ill. Three years later they moved to Jefferson county, locating on a farm four miles north of Fairfield. They moved to the city in 1911. Besides the husband, she is survived by their six children: Mrs. Jennie WEST of Clark, Nebr., Mrs. A.L. COOP of Fairfield, David Danna (sic. David DANA) of Rose Creek, Minn., Mrs Mildred WHITHAM (sic. later married to William KANN) and Earl DANA of this city, and Clarence DANA who resides on the home farm. There are seventeen grandchildren, one preceeding her in death, and six great grandchildren. All the children but one were at her bedside when she died. That said, the memorial for him uses "Wolfe" for the surname even though the headstone inscription pictured on his memorial clearly uses "Wolf".
